Serving Sizes

How Many Servings Does a 10oz Bag Make?

A 10oz bag contains approximately 283 grams of coffee.

Using the standard specialty-coffee ratio of 1:16 (15–17 grams per 8–10oz cup), a single bag will make:

About 16–19 cups of coffee

Most drinkers will see an average of ~17 cups, which is the commonly accepted benchmark.

How Many Servings Does a 4oz Bag Make?

A 4oz bag contains approximately 113 grams of coffee.

Using the same specialty-coffee ratio (15–17 grams per cup), a 4oz bag will make:

About 6–7 cups of coffee

Just like the 10oz bag, the total will vary slightly depending on brew strength, method, and cup size, but 6–7 cups is the accurate, real-world range.

Why the number may vary

Your exact cup count will depend on:

Brew strength (based on 10 oz):

  • Stronger brews use ~17–20g per cup (fewer servings).
  • Lighter brews use ~12–14g per cup (more servings).

Brew method: Pour-over and drip tend to use less coffee per cup. French press, moka pot, and espresso use more.

Grind size: Finer grind = more coffee used per doseCoarser grind = slightly less

Cup size: A “cup” is measured as 8–10oz in specialty coffee, not the 12–16oz mugs many people use at home.

Our Recommendation

For the best balance of flavor and extraction, we suggest starting with 15–17g of ground coffee per cup of water, which yields the ~17-cup estimate for a 10oz bag.
